Nha Trang in 3 days: a first-timer's walking itinerary (2026)
This is the route we would hand a friend visiting Nha Trang for the first time. Each day is eight stops in walking order, timed so the busy places come before the tour groups and the viewpoints land near sunset. Prices were checked in November 2026; where a price is older or not published, we say so.
Open the interactive 3D route →Day 1 · Cham towers to the night market: Brick towers, a white Buddha and the bay at dusk
Start early at the Po Nagar Cham towers above the river, climb to Long Son's white Buddha, see the stone cathedral and lunch in Dam Market. Rest through the hot or rainy middle of the day, then the Yersin museum, the long beach promenade at sunset (about 5:15pm), the Tram Huong tower and the night market.
Po Nagar Cham Towers
Red-brick towers built by the Champa kingdom over a thousand years ago, still a working shrine to the goddess Po Nagar, on a hill above the Cai River.
Price: ₫30,000 (2026 price · check on site) · Hours: Daily about 6am–6pm; may close around 5:30pm Oct–Dec (check)
Tip: Cover shoulders and knees (wraps are lent at the gate) and take off shoes inside the main tower. Brick steps are slippery after rain.
Long Son Pagoda & White Buddha
A big pagoda at the foot of Trai Thuy hill, with steps up past a reclining Buddha to the 24m white seated Buddha and a view over the city.
Price: Free · Hours: Generally about 7am–5pm (check)
Tip: Entry is free: ignore anyone at the gate asking for a 'ticket' and don't hire a 'guide'. Cover shoulders and legs for the main hall.
Nha Trang Cathedral (Stone Church)
A grey 1930s Gothic-style church on a small hill, built from stone blocks, with stained glass and a clock tower.
Price: Free · Hours: Visits about 5am–5pm; Mass weekdays 4:45am and 5pm (check)
Tip: Walk up the ramp from Thai Nguyen street. Dress modestly and stay quiet if a service or wedding is on.
Dam Market · lunch
The round-roofed central market: dried squid and fish, cashews, bird's-nest drinks, clothes, and cheap local food for lunch.
Price: Free entry · pay per dish · Hours: Early morning to evening (check)
Tip: Try bun cha ca (fish-cake noodles) or banh can. Ask prices before you pick anything up, and count your change.
Alexandre Yersin Museum
The small museum of the Swiss-French doctor who settled in Nha Trang and identified the plague bacillus, in the Pasteur Institute grounds across from the beach.
Price: Price not published · check on site · Hours: Weekday daytime; may close at lunch and on weekends (check)
Tip: If it's closed, the beachfront is two minutes away; keep this as a rainy-day stop.
Tran Phu beach promenade at sunset
Six kilometres of sand and palm-lined promenade along the bay; late afternoon is for a swim or a walk while the islands turn pink.
Price: Free · Hours: Open all day · sunset about 5:15pm in November
Tip: November seas can be rough: swim only near lifeguards and stay out on red-flag days. The sun sets behind the city, so the bay glows rather than the sun dipping into the sea.
Tram Huong Tower & 2/4 Square
The lotus-shaped agarwood tower is Nha Trang's symbol; the seafront square around it fills with families and street snacks after dark.
Price: Free · Hours: Square open all day · tower lit in the evening
Tip: Stand on the beach side for a photo of the lit tower with the promenade. Watch for motorbikes crossing Tran Phu.
Tran Phu night market
Rows of stalls by the seafront selling dried seafood, T-shirts, shells and snacks, a short walk from the tower.
Price: Free entry · pay per item · Hours: Daily about 6–11pm; busiest 7:30–9:30pm (check)
Tip: Bargain politely and compare two stalls. Dried squid is sold by weight: see it weighed. Keep your phone in a front pocket.
Day 2 · VinWonders on Hon Tre: Over the sea by cable car to an island theme park
A full day on Hon Tre island. Ride the 3.3 km cable car over the bay, see the aquarium and King's Garden in the cooler morning, the Sky Wheel at midday, the alpine coaster and water park after lunch, Fairy Land at sunset and the evening show before the ride back. Check the weather first: in strong wind the cable car stops and a boat takes over.
Cable car to Hon Tre
About 3.3 km over the bay in roughly 8–10 minutes, with the city behind and the islands ahead.
Price: ₫1,050,000 adult (140 cm+) · ₫800,000 child 100–140 cm / 60+ · round-trip cable car included · Hours: Park about 8:30am–8pm, cable car about 8am–9:45pm (check)
Tip: In strong wind the cable car is paused and VinWonders runs boats instead; check before you set out. The station is on Tran Phu in the south, about 20–40 minutes by Grab from the centre.
Sea World aquarium
The park's aquarium, renovated and reopened in early 2026, with a glass tunnel and mermaid and feeding shows.
Price: Included · Hours: Daytime; show times on the VinWonders app (check)
Tip: Go first, before the tour groups. If it's raining, this and the indoor rides are your best morning.
King's Garden
A garden-style animal park with birds, deer and other animals, best before the midday heat.
Price: Included · Hours: Daytime; bird show times on the app (check)
Tip: Feeding activities may cost extra and some take cash only; ask before you buy.
World Garden & Sky Wheel
Themed gardens and the giant wheel by the shore, with the whole bay and Nha Trang's skyline across the water.
Price: Included · Hours: Daytime (check)
Tip: The wheel may stop in strong wind or lightning; on a clear day it's the best view of the trip.
Festive Hill · Alpine Coaster
A sled-style coaster down the hillside toward the sea, plus the bigger rides of Festive Hill.
Price: Included (zipline extra) · Hours: Daytime; closes in rain (check)
Tip: Rides on the hill close when it rains; go as soon as the sky clears. Height limits apply.
Water World
Slides, a wave pool and a lazy river, a good way through the warm afternoon.
Price: Included · Hours: Closes around 5:30pm (check)
Tip: Thrill slides need 130 cm+, under 100 kg and under 50 years old. Lockers and towels cost extra; skip it if it's cool and wet.
Fairy Land at sunset
Gentle rides, the ferris wheel and castle squares; the light over the bay turns gold around 5:15pm.
Price: Included · Hours: Afternoon to evening (check)
Tip: Eat an early dinner in the park before the evening show; food courts get busy after 6pm.
Tata Show
The park's big outdoor night show with music, light and dancers, a fitting end before the cable car home.
Price: Included · Hours: Evenings, around 7–8pm (check the app on the day)
Tip: There's little seating; arrive 20 minutes early. Outdoor shows can be cancelled in heavy rain. Queue for the cable car back right after.
Day 3 · Hon Chong, mud bath & the beach: Balanced boulders, warm mud and a slow beach evening
See Hon Chong's stacked granite rocks in the early light, look across the bay to Fairy Mountain, then spend the late morning soaking in a mud bath and hot spring west of town. After lunch, cross Xom Bong bridge over the fishing boats, see a photo gallery and the beachfront mall, then swim, walk and eat on the food streets near the sand.
Hon Chong Promontory
Granite boulders piled at the sea's edge, one marked by a giant 'hand print' in local legend, with Fairy Mountain behind.
Price: ₫25,000–30,000 (2026 price · check on site) · Hours: From early morning to evening (check)
Tip: Rocks are slippery when wet and waves can break over them in November: stay back from the edge on rough days. Morning light is best.
Hon Chong Bay & Fairy Mountain view
From the small bay north of the rocks, the three peaks of Co Tien (Fairy) Mountain look like a woman lying with her hair spread on the water.
Price: Free · Hours: Open all day
Tip: A quick photo stop on the beach road; coffee stalls along the road open early.
Mud bath & hot spring (I-Resort area)
Soak in warm mineral mud, rinse under hot showers and drift between hot-spring pools and waterfalls in a garden setting. Thap Ba Hot Spring nearby is a similar choice.
Price: Mud bath from ₫350,000–400,000 incl. entry; entry only ₫200,000 (2026 price · check on site) · Hours: About 8am–5:30pm; mud baths until 3pm (check)
Tip: Go in the morning when it's quiet. The western area flooded badly in November 2025, so after heavy rain call ahead before going.
Xom Bong Bridge & Cai River boats
The bridge under Po Nagar where blue-and-red fishing boats moor on the Cai River, with the towers on the hill above.
Price: Free · Hours: Open all day
Tip: Walk the footpath on the east side for the boats with the river mouth. Don't stop on the road for photos; traffic is heavy.
Long Thanh Gallery
Black-and-white photographs of Nha Trang life by the local photographer Long Thanh, a quiet look at the city before the towers rose.
Price: Price not published · check on site · Hours: Daytime; may close at lunch and on Sundays (check)
Tip: Hours vary: check before you go, and swap in the Khanh Hoa Museum or a café if it's shut.
Nha Trang Center (beachfront mall)
An air-conditioned stop on the seafront for drinks, a supermarket for snacks and souvenirs, and toilets before the beach.
Price: Free entry · Hours: Daytime to evening (check)
Tip: A good shelter if a storm rolls in. Bird's-nest drinks and dried mango are cheaper in supermarkets than at tourist stalls.
Nha Trang Beach · evening swim
The southern stretch of the city beach, calmer in the late afternoon, for a last swim as the bay turns pink.
Price: Free · sunbeds extra · Hours: Open all day · sunset about 5:15pm
Tip: Swim only near lifeguards and never on red-flag days; rip currents are common in the rainy season. Agree the sunbed price first.
Biet Thu & Hung Vuong food streets
Two blocks from the sand: grilled seafood, nem nuong pork rolls, bun cha ca and fruit shakes, with bars and massage shops around.
Price: Free · pay per dish · Hours: Evenings
Tip: For seafood, ask the price per kg and see it weighed before cooking. Bird's-nest and jellyfish noodles (bun sua) are local specialities.

Before you go
Entry
- Korean passports: 45 days visa-free: South Korean citizens can stay up to 45 days without a visa under Resolution 44/NQ-CP, valid from 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028. Confirm with the official site before travel.
- Singapore passports: 30 days visa-free: Singapore citizens can stay up to 30 days without a visa under the ASEAN arrangement. Confirm with the official site before travel.
- Longer stays: e-visa: For other nationalities or longer trips, the e-visa allows up to 90 days, single or multiple entry (US$25 / US$50 government fee). Apply only on the official portal, evisa.immigration.gov.vn; look-alike agency sites charge much more.
- Passport and tickets: Have at least 6 months left on your passport, and keep your return or onward ticket handy: airlines and immigration may ask for it. Your hotel registers your passport with the police; that's normal.
SIM & eSIM
- At the airport: Viettel, Vinaphone and Mobifone sell tourist SIMs at Cam Ranh airport arrivals. SIMs must be registered, so bring your passport.
- eSIM before you fly: A data eSIM installed at home works on landing for maps and Grab, which matters because the airport is 35 km from town. Compare days and data, not just price.
- Why data matters here: Grab, maps, translation and the VinWonders app (show times) do most of the work. Download an offline map in case signal drops on the islands.
Getting around
- Airport to the city: Cam Ranh airport (CXR) is about 35 km south of central Nha Trang, roughly 40–50 minutes by road. Guide prices for 2026: airport bus about ₫65,000, Grab car about ₫350,000–450,000, metered taxi about ₫400,000–500,000 (check on site).
- Grab and taxis: Grab car or Grab bike is the easiest way around town; the price shows in the app, card or cash. Check the plate before you get in. Xanh SM electric taxis and metered Mai Linh or Vinasun taxis are alternatives.
- To VinWonders: The cable car station is on Tran Phu in the south of the city, about 20–40 minutes by Grab from the centre. A valid VinWonders ticket includes free VinBus rides (2 trips a day).
- No metro: There is no metro or tram. Distances in the centre are walkable, but the beach road is long; use Grab between areas, especially in the heat or rain.
- Crossing the street: Walk at a steady pace and don't stop or step back suddenly; motorbikes flow around you. Tran Phu beach road is busy day and night.
- Scooters: Renting one yourself needs a licence valid in Vietnam and insurance that covers motorbikes; without both, take Grab.
Money
- Cash is king: Carry Vietnamese dong for markets, street food, boat tours and tips. Hotels, malls, VinWonders and Grab take cards.
- Watch the zeros: The ₫20,000 and ₫500,000 notes are both bluish; check before you pay and count your change.
- Bay visitor fee: Since September 2025 the Nha Trang Bay board charges a small island fee: ₫6,000–10,000 per island (Hon Mun ₫10,000) or ₫40,000 combined. It's often collected at the pier or by your tour; keep the ticket.
- Agree the price first: For island tours, boats, sunbeds, massages and mud baths, confirm what's included (transfer, lunch, island fees, tips) before you pay.
November: rainy & typhoon season
- The wettest months: October–November is Nha Trang's main rainy season, with heavy rain, rough seas and possible typhoons. In November 2025 historic floods hit Khanh Hoa. Keep one day flexible and swap the VinWonders or island day if a storm is forecast.
- Cable car and boats: The Hon Tre cable car pauses in strong wind (VinWonders runs boats instead), and island tours, snorkelling and diving are cancelled when the sea is rough. Check the night before and in the morning, and book tours that refund weather cancellations.
- Floods: Low streets and the western suburbs (where some mud baths are) can flood fast after heavy rain. Ask your hotel, follow police directions, and never walk or ride through moving water.
- The sea: Big waves and rip currents are common: swim only near lifeguards and stay out on red-flag days. Hon Chong's rocks get waves breaking over them; keep back from the edge.
- Warnings & insurance: Follow storm warnings from Vietnam's National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and your hotel. Buy travel insurance that covers weather delays and cancelled flights.
- Temperature & sunset: Around 26°C and humid, with sunset around 5:15pm; mornings and late afternoons are best for being outside.
Tips & scams
- Temples: Cover shoulders and knees at Po Nagar, Long Son and the cathedral, and take off your shoes where others do. Long Son is free: ignore 'ticket sellers' and self-appointed guides at the gate.
- Seafood by weight: At seafood places ask the price per kg and see the weight before it's cooked.
- Cheap island tours: Very cheap tours may add fees for snorkel gear, island entry or 'floating bar' drinks. Ask what's included, and check the boat has life jackets for everyone.
- Coral: At Hon Mun and other reefs, don't stand on or touch coral and use reef-safe sunscreen.
